Our next single is really pop-art. I wrote it with that intention. Not only is the number pop-art, the lyrics are young and rebellious. It's anti-middle-age, anti boss-class and anti young marrieds.

-- Pete Townshend
Melody Maker July 3, 1965

We're looking for a few good people!

We need several people to help us "moderate" the new forums! It will be a simple "job", just helping to ensure that the forums run smoothly and don't get attacked by "spam bots". We plan to monitor the forums regularly, but we can always use more eyes to ensure that the forums run smoothly.

If you're interested, let us know!

We're also looking for everyone to help us gather "news". If you read an article or see something on your favorite mailing list or forum that is "news worthy", please use the "Submit news" button. We'd like our "Who News" section to be THE place on the web for everyone to find ther news about The Who.

We're also hoping that EVERYONE will volunteer to make thewho.net the premier Who site. We've now got some SERIOUS competition from the band's official site (www.thewho.com), but with your participation we think we can continue to be THE unofficial home for The Who on the web! The first thing we'd like to encourage is that everyone upload pictures to our new picture gallery! If you have a photo, or scans of ticket stubbs, posters - or anything that might interest other fans??? UPLOAD them!!!!

We're also looking for help gathering ALL of The Who's video content from YouTube! Our "Who Theater" allows everyone to add links to YouTube. Please help us gather all the great stuff that's been uploaded there! We plan to use those links to display cool videos on our site, in places like the new discography we're working on. If you have a favorite YouTube video, check if its on our list, if not, submit it!!!

The High Numbers perform at the Waterfront Club at the Cliff Hotel in Woolston, Southampton, Hampshire.

1969
The Who play at the Kinetic Playground in Chicago. The opening act is The Kinks. Pete dedicates The Who's show to them, helping a little to make up for the sting for this group that once had The High Numbers as their opening act but are now reduced to rebuilding a following in the U.S. after a four-year ban imposed by the American Federation of Musicians

1970
A Melody Maker article entitled "Who's cheap singles plan dampened." In it, record executives call Pete's plan for marketing cheap maxi-singles unfeasible.

1975
The Who play in Dusseldorf

1977
Pete is interviewed in his Twickenham home for the BBC-TV programme Tonight. He declares stories of his smashing guitars to be "lies, all lies!" and describes himself as "a desperate old fart now; not boring though!" The interview is later used in the movie The Kids Are Alright.

1982
The Who play at the Arizona State University in Tempe. John Cougar and Loverboy open.

1989
The Who perform the first of two nights at the Royal Albert Hall in London featuring an all-star performance of Tommy.

1996
The Who play in Chicago

1999
