I am re-re-tabbing this song for WHOTABS. This one is user friendly so you don't
have to count for 33 seconds before you start AND because it's a simple song, it
is interchangeable with the live versions. At the bottom of the page are some
notes on how John E. and Pino P. play it live.

(Synthesizer intro)

  1&2&3&4& 1&2&3&4& X13
G|--------|--------| Before THE WHO had their own pianist John E. would
D|3-------|--------| play the piano part by himself (at live versions), but on the
A|------3-|1-------| album version he doesn't come in until Roger starts
E|--------|--------| singing. The number of repeats are from the album version.

G|--------|--------|--------|
D|3-------|3-------|3-------|
A|--------|--------|--------|
E|--------|--------|--------|

(vocals only)

Don't cry.
Don't raise your eye.
It's only teenage wasteland

(Come back in)

  1&2&3&4& 1&2&3&4&
G|--------|--------| Just keep on playing until the solo.
D|3-------|--------|
A|------3-|1-------|
E|--------|--------|

(guitar solo)

  1&2&3&4& 1&2&3&4&
G|--------|--------| Now keep playing until Roger shouts WE'RE ALL WASTED!
D|3-------|--------|
A|------3-|1-------| PS. There's a tempo change here.
E|--------|--------|

  1&2&3&4& 1&2&3&4&
G|--------|--------|
D|--------|--------|
A|3-------|3-------|
E|--------|--------|

  1&2&3&4& 1&2&3&4&
G|--------|--------|
D|--------|--------|
A|1-------|1-------|
E|--------|--------|

  12341234 12341234 12341234 12341234 x3
G|--------|--------|--------|--------| After the 2nd repeat the violin comes in.
D|--------|--------|3-------|1-------|
A|3-------|1-------|--------|--------|
E|--------|--------|--------|--------|

  12341234 12341234 12341234
G|--------|--------|--------|
D|--------|--------|3-------|
A|3-------|1-------|--------|
E|--------|--------|--------|

Here while the violin is going crazy the guitar and BASS will fade up with:

  1&2&3&4& 1&2&3&4&
G|:--------|--------:|
D|:--3---3-|--3---3-:| repeat this until the violin starts going
A|:3---3---|3---3---:| really fast on that single note.
E|:--------|--------:|

  1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4
G|:----------------|----------------:|
D|:----------------|----------------:|
A|:3333333333333333|3333333333333333:|
E|:----------------|----------------:|

G|----------------|----------------|
D|----------------|3---------------|
A|3333333333333333|----------------|
E|----------------|----------------|

WHAT A GREAT SONG!

NOTES ON LIVE VERSIONS:

There are little alterations when it comes to live versions.

John E:

                       G|--------|--------|
                       D|3-------|--------|
                       A|------3-|1-------|
Instead of the normal E|--------|--------| that John plays he

               1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4
             G|--------|----------------|
             D|3-------|------------333-|
             A|------3-|1-------111-----|
often plays E|--------|----------------| or some other variation.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Pino P.

Pino usually starts out with the normal opening but when Zak kicks in on the drums
he goes like this

  1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4
G|--------|----------------|
D|3-------|--------8-------|
A|------3-|1---------------|
E|--------|---------6-6-66-|

And for the main riff he does this

  1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4
G|------10-10-10-----|----------------|
D|-------------------|--------8-------|
A|8------------------|----------------|
E|---------------8---|6--------6-6-6\8|

I've heard him do many variations and if you play with it for a while you'll get some
 cool riffs.

HAVE FUN!
