BARRY WESTGATE should realize that the type of music that the Blues Magoos, Who and Herman’s Hermits play is the type of music they are known for.

The Blues Magoos and Who are exploring a new dimension in music while the Herman’s Hermits are just following the path of older well known groups.

I did not see one person standing on top of his seat to see Herman’s Hermits while the whole audience were standing on their seats to see the Who.

If you ask me, the Herman’s Hermits are scared to try anything new in music, while the Who and Blues Magoos are explorers in this new field.

During the stage show of the Herman’s Hermits the strobe light was not put to use once, while when the Who and Blues Magoos were on stage it was used quite often.

The teens of Edmonton always wonder why we do not get that many big name groups in Edmonton. Westgate’s article is the reason why. If Barry Westgate cannot say something constructive about shows, I wish he wouldn’t say anything.

MR. WESTGATE made the teens of our fair city seem to be a group of rioting uncontrollable fools.

And as for that little bit about “adolescent hysteria”, I happen to know, because of my presence at the Gardens that evening, that there was no more cheering and applause than would be heard at an Edmonton football game attended by 8,000 middle-aged Eskimo fans!

We are well aware that our teenage chosen form of entertainment won’t last forever, but I ask Mr. Westgate what ever happened to Rudy Vallee? Barry seems to think that Peter Noone, alias “Herman”, is just great! Most of us feel, however, that the “Blues Magoo” and “The Who” have a little more originality to offer than the old-fashioned style of Herman’s Hermits.

The music of the groups was referred to by Mr. Westgate as “overbearing noise.” Well, if this is true, what do you call the endless decorum of the boring “Thousand and One Strings”?
