The Who Says 'Farewell Pittsburgh'

Rock is not dead.

The Who proved it Tuesday at the Civic Arena.

The band, on what is publicized as their farewell tour, rocked through a fine selection of music from their earlier "mod" motif found in "Quadrophenia," to their latest (and possibly last) effort, "It's Hard."

As old and new were mixed effectively, the crowd alternately enjoyed new, unfamiliar tunes and cheered old favorites.

The show opened with the tune "Substitute," from the album "Meaty, Beaty, Big and Bouncy."

This tune got the crowd ready for a night of full-blown high-energy rock and roll.

The Who would not let anyone down.
