ST. PAUL — When the Who bid an emotional adieu to the Twin Cities Saturday and Sunday with concerts at the St. Paul Civic Center, it was an unusually heartwarming event.

The band, heading toward the end of 17 years in the rock spotlight, is going out on top. The group has its best record in nine years after fully recovering from the 1978 death of former drummer Keith Moon and the deaths of 11 fans at a Who concert in Cincinnati a year later. It's Hard is selling well and getting mostly good reviews.
