SAN DIEGO (AP) — The farewell tour of The Who drew 52,700 rock ’n’ roll fans to San Diego’s Jack Murphy Stadium, but the performance was marred by 123 arrests and one attempted rape.

Police spokesman Bill Robinson said Thursday that 38 people were arrested on narcotics-related charges, mostly on suspicion of possession of marijuana or cocaine.

In addition, 74 people were arrested for public drunkenness, five people were booked on vandalism charges, two were arrested on suspicion of robbery and four others on "miscellaneous violations."

A 17-year-old girl walking through a tunnel that led to the stadium field was grabbed by a man who leaped out of the darkness and pushed her to the cement, Robinson said.

The incident occurred about an hour before the scheduled 8 p.m. start of the concert Wednesday night. A stadium security guard saw the girl struggling with her assailant and managed to pull him off. But in the ensuing confusion, the man was able to flee, Robinson said.
