Who Fan Says 30 Stood By During Rape

San Diego police said Thursday they are investigating the reported rape of a 17-year-old girl who told police she was assaulted at Wednesday night's Who concert in front of more than 30 witnesses who did nothing to help her.

The victim allegedly was attacked on a main stairway at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium during the concert by a man with a military-style haircut who was wearing a Camp Pendleton T-shirt, police said.

Although she said she cried out for help to between 30 and 40 concertgoers who passed by on the stairs, no one assisted her until two men identified as security guards grabbed her assailant, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.

The assailant escaped, Robinson said. The police and the security firm, Western Entertainment Services, have not yet been able to locate the two security guards allegedly involved in the incident and no other witnesses have stepped forward.

Fought Off Assailant Robinson said the victim told police she attempted to fight off her assailant and bit his lip and tongue
