Leave the ear plugs at home If it's too loud, you're too old. Remember that old line? Letting Townshend's clanging guitar wash over you without eardrum protection — and without whining about that incessant ringing in your head later — is excellent proof you're not over-the-hill.
Practice your windmill Playing air-guitar is an essential part of watching this band and the proper technique includes that big over-the-head windmill spin with your strumming hand. Have some muscle ointment at home, in case your shoulder offers a reminder of your age the next morning.
Find vintage wardrobe Don't go crazy with the paisley; this isn't a Lady Gaga costume party. The best idea is to unearth a favorite concert T-shirt from back in the day, hopefully one that still stretches adequately over the midsection.
Lie about Woodstock Telling people you were at the world's most famous rock festival in 1969 won't make you seem any younger, but it'll likely make you the coolest person in your row at Amway Center. You weren't there? You can work around that minor detail.
Know all the words And not just for obvious songs such as "Love Reign O'er Me." Singing along keeps you young, as long as you stop when the people in front of you start complaining. Don't fight with them about it, because you're too mature for that.
So rock on, kids. Roll over Beethoven and tell Abe Simpson the news.
