John Entwistle, 31, bass player for "The Who" rock group, was charged with disorderly conduct and freed on bond Friday following an early morning altercation at the Houston Oaks, police said.

Police said the rock group, which performed Thursday night at The Summit, was at a party for about 400 at the Houston Oaks when police asked that the music stop about 2 a.m.

Officers said Entwistle kicked over a display stand when he tried to assist John R. Wolff, 32, of New York City, who was arguing with Terry Wineriter, 31, of the 14700 block of Barryknoll.

Wineriter was charged with public intoxication and released while Wolff was charged with public intoxication and assault and released, police said.
