For one night at least, the punks and the godfathers were united. In a wave-like crash of classic rock and nostalgia, singer Roger Daltrey, guitarist Pete Townshend and the rest of what today serves as the Who, presented the 1973 rock opera Quadrophenia at Air Canada Centre.

The bold, dynamic set piece, which begins with I Am the Sea and ends dramatically with Love, Reign O'er Me, included The Punk and the Godfather, which found a microphone-swinging Daltrey and the conceptualist Townshend trading lines about 'pounding stages like a clown' and axes that 'belong to a dying nation' as archival band footage flashed behind them in a black-and-white montage.
