Another longtime fan, was trying to teach his friend, Rich Greene, also of Shelton, about The Who.

Corvino saw the band perform in 1982, 1997 and 2000.

Greene said he recognized a few of the classic songs.

Then Corvino cut in: “I’m turning him on to The Who tonight.”

“The new album’s great,” he added.

The Who’s latest album, “Endless Wire,” is the group’s first album of new, unreleased material since 1982’s “It’s Hard.”

Leah Thompson, of Trumbull, started her 16-year-old daughter, Sarah, listening to the band early on.

“We grew up listening to them, so we’re very excited,” the teen said.

Leah Thompson is also a fan of The Pretenders, The Who’s opening band.

Rick Baran, of Fairfield, listened to The Who as a teenager, but it was his first time seeing the band.

“I haven’t had the opportunity” until Tuesday night, he said.

Lynne Vail and Steve O’Laughlin, both of Darien, were also childhood fans.

“I was pretty into it when I was a kid, the British Invasion,” Vail said.

O’Laughlin, a drummer, said he could play Pretender and Who songs.

He remembered the band boasting in the 1970s that it was “the loudest band on the planet.”

Added Vail, “I’m hoping for bleeding eardrums tonight.”
