The list of truly fabulous rock operas is mighty short. It numbers, at best, a dozen — two of which were created by The Who.

The first is the band’s famed 1969 opus, “Tommy.” The second, and stronger affair, is 1973’s “Quadrophenia.” The band will perform that crowning achievement in its entirety on Friday at Oracle Arena in Oakland.
