PP pips 'em all

YOUR GUIDE to the best of the week's new releases: 1. THE FIRST CUT IS THE DEEPEST (Immediate) P. P. Arnold 2. SILENCE IS GOLDEN (CBS) The Tremeloes 3. MUSIC TO WATCH GIRLS BY (CBS) Andy Williams 4. TARZAN MARCH (Decca) The Magicians 5. THE PROPER THING TO DO (Liberty) U.S. T-Bones 6. PICTURES OF LILY (Track) The Who 7. GIRL, YOU'LL BE A WOMAN SOON (London) Neil Diamond 8. WESTERN UNION (Stateside) The Five Americans 9. PLEASE SPEAK TO ME OF LOVE (Hispa-Vox) Raphael 10. MAMA COME ON HOME (Decca) Tony Kingston

CHART ANALYSIS: An awfully good sound from P. P. Arnold and she's way out in front of the rest. The Tremeloes should be happy with their new hit-sequel and, fortunately, Andy Williams is in a livelier mood than usual.

There are a couple of waxings of the Tarzan March around, but I particularly like the one from The Magicians. The rest take their chance on making the charts — and it may be harder this time for The Who.
