Roger Daltrey — Written on the Wind (Polydor 2121 319)

Daltrey, one of the world's leading rebel vocalists, has conformed with this concession to commercial music and he has gone straight into the charts.

He obviously knows what it takes to make a hit single but it is a pity that the once prince of one of the most unruly rock kingdoms has stopped to commercialism. Hands up who remembers "The Seeker", "Boris the Sider" and "My Generation".

This said, "Written on the Wind" is still one of the better singles around at the moment, thanks to Daltrey's vocals which carry the song along. The tune itself seems to be a jumbled array of many famous songs and the introductory cords could be "Bye Bye Blackbird".
