To the Editor: My thanks to Jon Bream for his intelligent commentary regarding The Who. The Cincinnati disaster that will always be associated with the group was the fault of those with much greed and little sensibility—the managers of the house, not the band.

Anyone who doubts the career-long attitude, messages and general professionalism of Peter Townshend had better study this artist's records. He and his group have given us a body of work that is positive and energetic and that reveals a social conscience and a level of literacy that are rare in pop music.

I'm glad Bream straightened things out.
