John Entwhistle, the Who's bass guitarist, has a solo album on Track released later this month.

Entitled "Smash You Head Against the Wall", it is the first solo venture by a member of the group.

He is joined by the ex-lead guitarist of a group named the T-Bones, and by Gerry Shirley, of Humble Pie, on drums. On one track, Keith Moon plays bongos.

A varied instrumentalist, John plays bass, piano, organ, and an extensive range of brass on the album.

He has written many songs which have been performed by the Who. His most famous one is Boris the Spider. Other titles include Whiskey Man, The Ox, and Silas Stingy. He also penned two numbers on the famous "Tommy" album.

Most of his work, however, can be found on the "B" sides of Who singles.

A single has been released from the album entitled "I Believe in Everything."
