The Who Tour

Rock legends The Who continue to add dates to their North American summer tour plans, including a stop at the Mohegan Sun Arena in July. Apart from original members — vocalist Roger Daltrey and guitarist Pete Townshend — the touring unit includes longtime drummer Zak Starkey.

Starkey, son of Beatles drummer Ringo Starr, is the "rightful heir to the drum stool of his godfather Keith Moon, who Zak knew when growing up as 'Uncle Keith.' Zak's father only ever gave him one drum lesson in his life in an attempt to discourage his son from a career in rock 'n' roll, but it was Zak's Uncle Keith who bought him his first drum kit at the age of 8," according to the band's website.

The band's backstage blog writer, Brian Kehew, singled out Starkey's playing at a show last month in Sheffield, England. "Zak was amazing tonight, in many places. Especially on 'The Rock' he was adding so much to the performance. Though he's been with the band for two decades now, it's hard for any non-original member to gain a foothold with such a classic band. But every night, Zak holds his own with Roger and Pete. Given the circumstances, he's done better than anyone could expect in such a prestigious spot."
