Pinball Wizard," again backed with "Dogs Part 2," is released in the U.S. It comes in a black-and-white picture sleeve that declares it is a selection from the forthcoming opera "Tommy (1914-1984)." This is the first public mention that the opera known up to this time as "Deaf Dumb and Blind Boy," has been retitled Tommy. The single will peak at #19 in Billboard and #15 in Cash Box again the first Top Twenty hit in the U.S. for The Who in two years.
