Around this date, in imitation of the cover of The Who Sell Out, Barry Kirk sits in a bath of baked beans at Port Albert's Beach Hotel for 100 hours to set a world's record. Afterwards he is given the nickname "Captain Beany". He changes his name to Captain Beany by deed poll in 1991.
