conventional drumming techniques. His drum rolls often made you think he had four hands.

While his replacement, Kenny Jones, is technically an excellent drummer the comradeship which Moon and Townshend often communicated onstage can never be replaced. Still, Jones works well with Townshend and bassist John Entwistle providing a strong backbone to the group's new sound. While Townshend would fiddle about on guitar during song leads and jams (i.e. on "Sister Disco") Jones would be right with him every note of the way.

During one of the evening's strongest medley's, "Pinball Wizard" and "We're Not Gonna Take It" Townshend was able to whip off some tasty lead guitar breaks as the band sent out sounds so primal you wanted to let them wash over you and pulse through you. The same was true for the three-song encore medley of "Summertime Blues," "Twist and Shout" and "The Real Me."

The band rallied for an irascible rendition of the songs, unleashing them in a manner which has gained it a reputation as the quintessential rock 'n' roll stage band.

And after last night's performance you'd have to say that they most certainly live up to that reputation.
