About

thewho.net was created in 1997, but the origin of the website dates back to 1994 when Wes Biggs created “The Hypertext Who”.

In 1996 The Who began touring again, and were it not for the internet and “mailing lists”, I would have never found out about the tour. In July 1996 when The Who performed at Madison Square Garden, I attended several of the shows and met with many fans at “pre show gatherings”.

I decided to start my own mailing list, “Odds & Sods – The Who’s Internet Fan Club” and the following year registered “thewho.net” domain name.

By the time I started thewho.net, Wes’ site had already become “dormant” and I agreed to take over the pages and move them to the new domain.

mSince 1997 I have gone from static pages thru various CMS (Content Management Systems). Currently this page is being served using WordPress.

Over the years this page has gone stagnant various times. I moved to Brasil in 2007, and have been raising a family since 2010 which took significant time away from this hobby! The pandemic also distracted me completely from the internet in general.

This year (2024) I’ve begun working on this page in earnest! I HOPE to bring it back to its former glory, and perhaps surpass it!

Right now our main feature is “Today in Whostory” – updated automagically every day at 00:00 UTC. I’m doing my best to get everything updated – and soon will begin bringing back old features of the site such as “History of The Who”, “Biographies”, a “Bibliography” and many other things this page has had in the past.

I’m hoping to begin “blogging” for those interested in what I’m up to, and those posts will appear here! Check back often!
