The Who hold their first official session for the new film at The Young Vic Theatre in Waterloo, South London (they had a practice run on the 14th). The audience is made up of 200 teenagers invited from a local youth club and regular members of the Young Vic Theatre. The session is recorded although Andy Johns, the engineer doing the recording knows that as The Who were just beginning to work with the songs nothing will be releasable. He also remembers Who manager Kit Lambert being present and stamping about screaming "What in the hell are we doing here?" To make the session even more unpleasant, The Who were to have used Pink Floyd's quadraphonic sound system at these shows. It is delivered but Who soundman Bobby Pridden can't get it work. It also appears that despite Pete's intentions to capture it all on film, no professional camera crew is present.
