          Around this date, on their way back to England, The Who stop in Las Vegas. While there, Pete writes the song “Tattoo” as well as the unreleased tunes “Boats Are Coming In” and “Touring Inside U.S.”, the latter featuring a quote of The Beach Boys’ “Surfin’ U.S.A.”

                      The Who get a short break before the end of the tour and head to Los Angeles, staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Their manager, Kit Lambert, spends his spare time tweaking “I Can See For Miles” and “Rael” at Gold Star Studios in Los Angeles.
