The Who were booked as last-minute replacements in the "Tip For The Top" slot on "Top of The Pops" on BBC1. The groups were flown to Manchester record at the corporation's studio, a converted church in Dickenson Road, Rusholme. The group mimed "I Can't Explain" live between 7:30-8:00pm
