John and his solo band Ox release a single in Europe from their forthcoming album. "Mad Dog," the album's title song, backed with "Cell Number 7," a song about The Who's 1973 Montreal arrest, fails to chart and is denounced by Colin Irwin in Melody Maker as "the bore of the week."
