Pete's The Iron Man, a musical version of Ted Hughes' children's book and featuring two new recordings by The Who, hits the U.S. charts. The album opens to generally favorable but not enthusiastic reviews. It peaks at #58 in Billboard. A single "A Friend Is A Friend" backed with "Man Machines" is also released but does not chart. In The U.K. neither the album nor single charts.
