SIR: We feel that the police on duty for the recent appearance of Herman's Hermits at the Civic Center were remiss in their treatment of the performers and the audience.

During the intermission, before the headliners appeared, various policemen and officials ripped down signs which showed appreciation for the Hermits’ performance in Baltimore. People worked very hard on their posters which were meant to welcome Herman. However, they were taken down before the group was able to see them.

It was obvious that the posters were not being saved to give to the Hermits. Certainly if there had been a logical reason for removing the signs, they should have been carefully taken down before the show started and given to the group they were meant for.

Also, individuals who stood to take pictures were forced to sit down before their photographs could be made. The people sitting behind the members of the audience taking pictures did not complain of their view being blocked.

It was also obvious that the picture-takers were not going to rush the stage. So why was it necessary to make them sit down?
