BIRMINGHAM Town Hall vibrated to the sound of music as The Who pounded out a climax to an all star programme.

This was pop at its noisiest and best ... a live performance before a capacity audience of fans who seemed to will the performers to great heights.

Hit after hit came from the groups who included The Traffic, the Herd, the Marmalade, special guests The Tremeloes and, of course, The Who.
