White Front Stores, noted in discount circles for its star packed promotions, has even outdone their usual extravaganzas.
Upcoming is their Free 2½ hour "Festival of Music" pop concert, which bills on one stage, not one, not two, but six notables as: The Association, Animals, Everly Bros., The Who, Sunshine Co. and 4 Sopwith Camel. With so much top draw talent presented on one billing, White Front comes up with a "historical first!" If this isn't any way to run a discount store, it sure is the way to run show biz!
Not satisfied with just presenting this star studded package, White Front lined-up the idol of teen TV viewers, Sam Riddle, to produce and emcee the show.
Nothing less than the Hollywood Bowl and Cow Palace would do for White Front, so San Francisco's Cow Palace kicks off with the first concert on Saturday, Nov. 18, with the Hollywood Bowl scheduled for Nov. 19. Each group will perform at both spots with a matinee and evening show.
Tickets to the shows are free, with the purchase of any Warner Bros. or MGM stereo album, which can be purchased at any White Front Store. Cost of albums remain at White Front's usual low discount prices.
The rock 'n roll festival idea was conceived by White Front's Vice President, Sam Nassi, who saw it as a "natural" for promoting records. So did Warner Bros., and MGM. It appears the two giants of the record world are spinning in the right circles.
