1,000 Area Teens Hear Rock Bands

Long-haired music has come a long way since Beethoven and Bach and it was proven over the weekend by "The Who" and "The People," a pair of bushy-headed "raga rock" ensembles performing in concert at the Orlando Sports Stadium before some 1,000 area teens.

They came attired in assorted colors—sweatshirts and suede jackets, tee-shirts and orange bell-bottom pants. Their music was the big beat sound amid flashing green and yellow strobe lights against a crimson backdrop.

THE MUSIC echoed with whining psychedelia, tambourines and a booming organ. The kids liked it.

A sheriff's deputy tapped his foot to "I am the Walrus."

But the contrast throughout the gyrating, contortionist musicians and the sedate youth in the crowd made it clear that they all wanted to dance. But no one did except one 8-year-old who got up during the show and did the bugaloo in the aisle.

"THE WHO," made up of four British youths, mastered their best seller, "I Can See For Miles" in the dimly lit arena.

"The People" dazzled the young crowd with their hit tune, "I Love You."
