Who Chooses Detroit for U.S. Opera Debut

The Who will perform their new opera for the first time in the U.S. at the Grande Ballroom May 9. They won't do the whole thing but will present roughly 30 minutes of the hour-and-a-half long musical….

Kit Lambert, The Who's manager, phoned on Wednesday. He expressed hope that radio stations won't ban the opera because it is about a deaf, dumb, blind boy who gets raped by his uncle then becomes a pinball champion…. They'll perform the opera for the first time in London this Friday….
