ANAHEIM—Nothing like it had
ever happened in Anaheim Stadium
before—but from the way it turned
out it may well happen again. .

Nearly 30,000 people heard The
Who and other.rock bands there
Sunday“ ' ;

Everyone appeared to; be happy.

The stadium made money and suf-
fered little, if any, damage. The pd-
lice had no’ serious problems and
inade few arrests. .And the audience
sat on the grass, baked itself in the
sunshine and turned on to the mu— .
sxc.

Not bad for a Sunday afternoon
when the Angels are on the road.

The all-day concert in the sun,
starring The Who, the British rock
stars who created the rock' opera
"Tommy," a n d featuring Blu e 3
Image, Leon Russell and John Se-
bastian, was one of the first of its
kind to be held in a baseball stadi-
um.

The elevated band stand; loaded
with amplifying equipment, was
constructed on home plate facing
the audience that spread across the
playing field and took up most of the
first deck of bleachers.

Tom Liegler, manager of Anaheim
Stadium and Convention Center.
said paid admission—at $5 to $5.50 3
