WHO STAR Peter Townshend plans to give his first solo performance in London this month.

The show will be at the Roundhouse on April 12 – and Townshend has only been persuaded to do it in order to raise money for the Camden Square Community Play Centre, who are trying to buy a coach.

Other artists who will be playing for no fee in the concert are Tim Hardin, Byzantium and Coast Road Drive.

A spokesman for Townshend said: "Pete wanted to keep the whole thing fairly quiet. It's not a big new step in his career or anything. He is just trying to help some nice people."
