Who Star Moon Held by the Police
A millionaire pop superstar was in a Scots police cell last night after "an incident" at a fog-bound airport.
Keith Moon, the drummer with The Who pop group was arrested and charged with breach of the peace at Prestwick Airport.
The other members of the group and their entourage were left at the airport as police drove Moon to their HQ at nearby Ayr.
And later a police spokesman said: "Mr Moon was arrested after an incident at Prestwick Airport. He has been detained overnight. He will appear at the Sheriff Court in the morning on a charge of breach of the peace."
The group had appeared in a concert at Glasgow's Apollo Theatre on Thursday.
When they turned up at Glasgow Airport yesterday they were told it was fog-bound and they were diverted to Prestwick.
But when they arrived at Prestwick conditions were just as bad. It was as officials were explaining the situation around 7 p.m. that "the incident" took place, it was alleged.
Moon—famous for his eccentricity—was visited in the cells by a local lawyer.
PLAN
Mr John Wolffe, the group's production manager, said "Our plan was to fly to London today and tomorrow we would have travelled to Leicester where we are due to appear."
