THE WHO rock group will reportedly tour at least 30 American cities (Detroit included) this year.

Kal Rudman, editor of a record industry tip sheet, says that guitarist John Entwhistle and new drummer Kenney Jones (he replaced the late Keith Moon) are forcing the group to hit the road.

Lead singer Roger Daltry had been ambivalent and guitarist Pete Townshend wanted to stay home, fearing more damage to his ears from the Who’s 120-decibel rock.

Forty percent of Townshend’s hearing has been eroded by touring.

The Who was the first rock group to perform in the Pontiac Silverdome back in December 1975.
