Pete Townshend... 'All The Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes'

Many moons ago, Pete Townshend as leader of The Who was figurehead for the nation’s mod movement. The lyrics to his music were simple statements of youthful emotion. Now Townshend, as an elder member of the rock fraternity, produces still clever lyrics to music which lacks the urgency of the early Who sounds. He is growing old quite gracefully but his audience has also aged. Unfortunately, the artist and his original audience are now far apart.
