The assailant reportedly followed the victim up the stairs as she made her way to a concession stand. Part way up the stairs, he allegedly threw her to the pavement and forcibly removed her clothes, Robinson said.

A second man stood by and laughed as the rape took place, Robinson said the victim told police.

After the rape, the victim went back to her seat and told her boyfriend what had occurred, Robinson said. The two of them then went to the police command post at the stadium and reported the incident.

She was taken to Children’s Hospital, where she was examined, treated and released, Robinson said.

The results of the medical tests were consistent with those normally found in rape cases, police said.

Stabbing, Robbery

Although police said Wednesday night they were pleased with the deportment of the crowd, on Thursday police and paramedics reported that one concertgoer was stabbed and that two others were arrested for robbery and assault.

A total of 123 people were arrested at the concert, including 38 for possession of narcotics and 74 for drunkenness, police said. Police had expected to make about 60 arrests.

Two New York men were arrested in the stadium parking lot after they allegedly attacked two concertgoers, assaulted them with brass knuckles and stole $53. Booked on suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon were Samuel Herriot Jr., 21, and Darnell Denson, 22.

About 52,750 people attended the concert, which featured the last San Diego appearance of The Who, and performances by Lover Boy and John Cougar.

100 People Treated

Paramedics treated about 100 people, including one man who was stabbed in the arm in the stadium parking lot. The wound was not serious, however, and he was taken away by private ambulance. No complaint was filed with police as a result of the incident, Robinson said.

Dennis Eisher, a spokesman for Medevac, which provided paramedics for the concert, said 19 people were transported to hospitals for treatment of broken ribs, arms and legs, and for serious intoxication.

Most of the concertgoers suffering from broken bones were caught in the crush when fans rushed toward the stage several times during the concert.
