Don't worry, Roger Daltrey isn't headed for the poorhouse. He's just in costume for his role as the Street Singer in Mack the Knife, the upcoming film adaptation of the Bertolt Brecht classic The Threepenny Opera. "It's all done in iambic pentameter," says Daltrey, "so it's quite challenging."

Now that he's finished filming, Daltrey is gearing up for this summer's Who reunion. "We're not calling it a tour," he says. "It's 25 shows celebrating the band's 25 years." Daltrey says he and his fellow alumni have no plans to make an album. "We've got too much material anyway. The one thing we don't need is more hit records." Nor, he says, are there plans for a live recording of their shows.

But the Who did get together to record a song called Dig for Pete Townshend's forthcoming solo album, The Iron Man, which is based on a children's book. "What was great," says Daltrey, "was how much the Who vibe came out immediately in the song."
