Who's in Oakland
A sell-out crowd of nearly 55,000 fans, predominantly college-aged, packed the Oakland Coliseum last night to see the Who.
Singer Roger Daltrey (above) and band performed a 2 1/2-hour set of songs mostly from the rock opera 'Tommy,' as well as tunes from Pete Townshend's solo LPs and hits from the band's 25-year career.
As a concession to his hearing loss, Townshend played only acoustic guitar.
The Who will repeat the show tonight in Oakland.
Mick LaSalle's review will appear in tomorrow's Datebook.
