8 p.m. USA Sweet Poison (Made for TV 1991) **½ Although this crime chase film is cliched for the most part, its saving grace is Edward Herrmann’s complex performance as a husband who sees what greed and fear does to his wife (Patty Healy), when they are abducted by an escaped convict (Steven Bauer). Bauer not only mistreats Herrmann, but he also sleeps with his wife in full view of the tortured man. There's a lot of brutality and a surprise ending for some.
8:30 PM ABC The 3rd Annual International Rock Awards Leslie Nielsen of “Naked Gun” fame hosts this international rock music award show broadcast via satellite from the London Arena in England. A diverse panel of people representing the music industry nominate the performers, then members of the rock and roll community pick the winners. Peter Townshend of The Who will receive the 1991 Living Legend Award. Among those scheduled to perform are Sting, The Doobie Brothers, ZZ Top, Roxette, The Scorpions and Faith No More. Nominated for Artist of the Year are The Black Crowes, Phil Collins, INXS, Jane's Addiction, Living Colour, Neil Young & Crazy Horse.
