Local singer to open for The Who
of the Potomac News
Singer-guitarist Sean Michael Dargan of Fredericksburg will open for The Who tonight at Nissan Pavilion.
"I'm a big Who fan," Dargan said. "Pete Townsend is one of the coolest rock 'n' roll guitar players I know of."
Dargan, 29, a regular in the D.C. music scene, is getting air time on college radio throughout the U.S. with the song "53 Steps," from his self-titled CD. The singer embarked on U.S. and European tours last year.
Closer to home, he plays at places such as Clyde's in Georgetown and Alexandria's Birchmere.
"Cellar Door, who books the Birchmere, also books Nissan Pavilion," Dargan said. "When they asked if I wanted to open for The Who, I said 'Let me check my schedule.'"
Sean Michael Dargan will play on the side stage at Nissan Pavilion tonight. Headliners for tonight's show are The Who.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for the concert, with Dargan and band mates Claude Author on bass and Joe Wells on drums taking the Gazebo Side Stage at 6:30 p.m. Drivin' n Cryin' will be the opener on the main stage at 8 p.m. Dargan will play another set while The Who sets up.
Dargan has two CDs out: "Dance on the Windows" and "Sean Michael Dargan." For concert and merchandise info, call the Dargan hotline at (703) 448-4975.
