Rock star auctions guitars for victims
SUPPORT: Pete Townshend is selling his rock memorabilia to raise cash for Oxfam’s emergency programme.
THE Who legend Pete Townshend has raided his collection of precious guitars and memorabilia to help floods and drought victims in Africa by auctioning them off.
Items being sold by the rock veteran in his online auction next week include a 1957 Fender Stratocaster given as a gift by Eric Clapton as well as correspondence with musical icons like Sir Paul McCartney.
That lot alone is expected to raise tens of thousands of pounds for Oxfam’s emergency programme in Mozambique and Ethiopia.
