Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend proved last night that age has little to do with great rock ’n’ roll.

The two surviving members of the iconic English rock band, The Who, are both into their 60s. But they showed no sign of slowing down when they performed a stellar concert before more than 11,000 people at Copps Coliseum.

With a strong four-piece band behind them, Townshend, 63, and Daltrey, 64, shown here, opened with their first single from 1965, I Can’t Explain.

The Who gave an energetic performance, weaving songs from throughout their 40-plus year career into a setlist that featured classic hits from the ’60s and ’70s.

Last night’s concert was the only Canadian stop in a North American fall mini-tour that opened Tuesday in Detroit.
