1963 – The Detours play Oldfield Hotel in Greenford
1964 – Two days of skirmishes break out between Mods and Rockers at Clacton. The British tabloid press leaps on it, describing it as an invasion and begins to write articles trying to understand what these Mods and their enemies the Rockers are all about. With this event, Modism moves beyond the London cult and begins to go national.
1964 – Roger marries his four-months pregnant 16-year old girlfriend Jacqueline Rickman at Wandsworth Registry Office. Johnny Kidd and The Pirates are guests at the reception. News of Roger’s marriage will not be shared with The Who’s fans until 1968 when Jacqueline files for divorce. In a 1972 Observer feature, Roger confessed, “I knew that if I didn’t move away from her in those early days, I would be a sheet metal worker forever.”
1965 – The Who play The Brum Kavern Club in Small Heath, Birmingham.

If anyone lives in Birmingham and has a few spare minutes, I could use some help. I have reason to believe that the “Midland Beat” magazine for March 1965 has an ad for “Regan’s Dances” I’ve seen that Birmingham has a beautiful library…..perhaps they have this issue??
The photo is of the “Garryowen Club” which briefly changed its name to “Brum Kavern” in the mid 60s. The building might have been smaller at the time? It still exists, but the club was closed many years ago.
1967 – The Who play the RKO Radio Theater in New York, New York
1969 – Go prints the article: “The Who return to blow your minds.” Who manager Kit Lambert says the next step will be to turn Tommy into a movie.

1981 – Billboard magazine carries a full page ad for The Who’s “Face Dances” album and features the album in their “Spotlight”
1981 – The Who play Grugahalle in Essen, Germany

1986 – Roger is on the British television show Driving Force. Contestants drive a selection of tanks and rally cars race quarry trucks and fire engines complete a car parking poser and then a grand prix with forklift trucks. Roger and his partner Barry Sheene win.
1987 – Billboard reports that Roger has received an Ampex Golden Reel Award for Under A Raging Moon. It had been recorded on Ampex tape.
2004 – Cartoon Network’s late-night version, Adult Swim, shows the episode “Temporary Blindness” from the series Home Movies containing “Timmy,” a parody of Tommy: The Movie.
2006 – Roger records his vocals for the “The Boy Who Heard Music” mini-opera for Endless Wire
2006 – Roger attends the Teenage Cancer Trust event at Royal Albert Hall in London
2009 – The Who play the Hope Estate Winery in Pokolbin, New South Wales, Australia
2012 – Roger, Ron Wood and Paul Weller perform together at the Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust. The Following night, the three return to join Paul McCartney in a performance of “Get Back”
2014 – Roger attends the Teenage Cancer Trust event at Royal Albert Hall in London
2020 – The Who are scheduled to perform at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the Teenage Cancer Trust concerts, but the event was postponed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus
