    1963 – The Detours play the Goldhawk Social Club in Shepards Bush.

    1964 – The Who play the Florida Rooms in Brighton

    1965 – The Who mime to “Anyway Anyhow Anywhere” on Gadzooks! It’s The In Crowd broadcast live from BBC Television Centre at 7pm. The show also featured Marianne Faithfull, Gene Pitney, and Dana Gillespie and was hosted by Alan David and Lulu.

    1965 – The Who play in London at the Marquee Club

    1966 – The Who play in Copenhagen at the Tivoli Hit House. At a press conference before the show John says he hates Danish beer, Danish cigarettes and every Who song but one — “Substitute.”

    1966 – The Who play in Odense at Fyens Forum

    1967 – Two tracks destined for long shelf lives are mixed in 4-track by Kit Lambert at CBS Studios, London. Cy Langston’s “Early Morning Cold Taxi” and Keith’s “Girl’s Eyes” will not be officially released for twenty-seven more years.

    1969 – Melody Maker declares Tommy the Pop LP of the Month saying it gives “a facelift to pop’s image”. Jon Hineson is featured in “Blind Date” and reviews The Who. There is an ad for “Pop Proms”. Tommy debuts in the Top 20 at #9 while Pinball Wizard falls to #23 in its 15th week in the Pop 30.

    1969 – The Who play the Majestic Hills Theater in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

    1970 – The Who are presented with plaques from Decca Records for $5,000,000 worth of records sold in the U.S.

    1970 – The Who play two shows in New York at the Metropolitan Opera House

    1971 – The Who record “Getting In Tune,” “Time Waits For No Man” (later retitled “When I Was A Boy”) and completion of the 1970 recording “Naked Eye” at Olympic Studios in Barnes.

    1975 – Melody Maker reviews a production of Tommy that stars Olivia Newton-John, Cliff Richard and, as Tommy, Leo Sayer.

    1975 – New Musical Express reviews a stage performance of Tommy in Leicester.

    I don’t have this issue of NME (if you do, please share), but this likely (most certainly?) refers to the play that opened on May 22 by the Phoenix Theatre Company and later in June moves to De Montfort Hall

    1981 – Pete joins Bruce Springsteen on stage during the encore of Bruce’s set in Birmingham, England. He adds guitar to “Born To Run” (with Pete playing lead), a Mitch Ryder medley, “Shake” and “Sweet Soul Music.”

    1987 – The News Of The World attacks Pete in an editorial because he supports the Labour Party’s Wealth Tax

    1989 – Pete and Ronnie Lane’s Rough Mix is released on CD.

    1992 – Roger’s solo album Rocks In The Head is released in the U.S. It does not make the album charts.

    1993 – Pete attends the groundbreaking ceremony for the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland. Pete mimes guitar playing with his shovel. “Originally it was music that came from people that were in trouble, and spoke deeply and hugely and heroically from deep down in their soul. That’s what we inherit here today. It’s a real living, breathing religion – that’s how I feel about it.” He also donates to the museum the Gibson J-200 guitar on which he composed Tommy. Chuck Berry and Billy Joel are also present

    2000 – CNN’s Showbiz Today carries a sound clip from Pete in which he says of the upcoming tour, “Yeah, it’s for nostalgia, part of it is for nostalgia.”

    2001 – John Entwistle plays in Winooski, Vermont at the Higher Ground

    2004 – The BBC Sessions CD by The Marmalade is released containing a cover of “I Can’t Explain.” Listen to it on YouTube here

    2004 – The Who play the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, West Midlands. Kasabian is the opening act

    2006 – The Who play in Hertfordshire at Knebworth House at the Festival of Networking for the Hedge Fund Industry, benefitting the Teenage Cancer Trust

    2010 – Roger Daltrey spearheads a charter petitioning for better care for teenage cancer victims worldwide.
