The 1980s saw the first “Farewell” tour as well as the end of the Kenney Jones era. The Who would stop touring for 7 years except for the Live Aid show in 1985 which was not one of the band’s finer moments. 1989 saw Pete on acoustic guitar and the band expand with many back-up players and singers. The 1989 shows topped 3 hours and included several Townshend solo songs. Many fans dubbed the tour “The Who On Ice”.
Some of the better known shows from the 1980s include the 1981 Rockpalast show, the 1982 Toronto finale and the 1989 Radio City show.
