"Pictures of Lily" is a hot topic in Disc and Music Echo with Ray Davies stepping up to defend the song from being dirty. "I'm sure Pete Townshend would be most upset if he was told 'Pictures of Lily' was a dirty song." Roger is a little more coy in an interview in the same issue: "I suppose the words are a bit dodgy. Perhaps we just see how close to the wind we can sail -- without actually getting banned."
