The Who go into IBC Studios, London to record new studio versions of their stage act for later broadcast on the BBC. Paul Williams is the producer. The tracks are "Heaven and Hell", "Substitute", "Pinball Wizard," "Shakin' All Over/Spoonful," "I'm Free" and "The Seeker". It is the last time The Who record tracks specifically for airing on the BBC. Radio fans first hear them on BBC1's Dave Lee Travis Show of the 19th. "Heaven and Hell" later serves as the basis for the track on the b-side of "Summertime Blues" and four of them are officially released in 2000 on BBC Sessions.
