Cover of The Who's

Who's Next is released in the U.S. ahead of its release in the rest of the world. John Mendelsohn in Rolling Stone calls it "intelligently-conceived, superbly-performed, brilliantly-produced, and sometimes even exciting rock and roll." Dave Marsh in Creem also likes the album despite what he calls weak points in some songs. Lydia Argyle and Ed Kelleher in Circus feel it should be put in a time capsule for future generations to marvel at. Despite its now classic status in the rock pantheon, Who's Next stalls at #4 in the U.S. charts.
