The Who's Tommy, the musical written by Pete Townshend and Des McAnuff, premieres at the La Jolla Playhouse in California. At Pete's suggestion, the opening night is a benefit for the Playhouse and the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Foundation. Roger and John are in attendance as are Liza Minelli, John Cusack and Robert Downey, Jr. Roger does not care for the play but local reviews are ecstatic and the end date has to be extended due to high ticket demand.
